From You to Me by K. A. Holt (review)

Three years have passed since Amelia's older sister, Clara, drowned in the lake, but the loss still feels fresh. Amelia had hopes that eighth grade would bring a fresh start that would mean some lifting of the shadows of her past; instead, she finds Clara's list of person goals that she hoped to complete by eighth grade. Now, with her best friend's help, Amelia attempts to accomplish Clara's checklist and hopefully feel closer to her sister in the process. In this younger take on the bucket-list trope, Holt delivers a poignant tale that chronicles a girl's journey through grief. The main character is a combination of sympathetic and angsty, an authentic mix that adds to her relatability for the target audience. They'll also be engaged by the premise, and they'll want to follow Amelia as she navigates the peaks and valleys of life and loss.
