ABSTRACT:
Since French president Emmanuel Macron defeated the National Front's Marine Le Pen in last year's election, his style of politics has been feted by liberals as a bulwark against far-right populism. Macronism broke the Republican and Socialist coalitions which dominated since the Fifth Republic's beginning, brining liberals together with neoliberals.
