Abstract

Abstract:

The current study was a replication of a 1970 study on Dean of Students' responsibilities entitled Assumptions and Beliefs of Selected Members of the Academic Community. Surveying 490 student affairs administrators and members of the academic community, the current study found convergent, divergent, or static endorsements among respondent groups about Deans of Students' roles. While the role of the dean has become more perceived as administrative, the traditional disciplinary and relational engagement with students remains of consequence.
