Abstract

Abstract:

This fifth chapter of Roman et censure ou la mauvaise foi d'Eros, originally published in 1996, analyzes Nabokov's erotic and poetic strategies in his two masterpieces, Lolita and Ada, and the clever monitoring conducted by the author to bypass censorship. The last part narrates the chief episodes of the interdict against Lolita in France and Maurice Girodias' campaign to have it lifted by Le Tribunal Administratif.
