101 R. L. Schnell is an Associate Professor in Educational Foundat10ns at the University of Calgary. He is the co-author of a book, Foundational Disciplines and rhe Study uf Education (1968), and a monograph, National Activist Student Organi::ations in American Higher Education, 1905-1944, in the "Social Foundations of Education" series (1976). Reginald C. Stuart is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Prince Edward Island. He has published essays in the Canadian Journal of Hiswry and in the Canadian Historical Association's Historical Pape,:,s (1976). He has contributed review articles to War and Society (1976, 1977). He is currently at work on a book on American attitudes toward war, 1763-1823. Suzanne Henning Uphaus is a Canadian teaching in the Department of American Thought and Language at Michigan State University. She has published articles in the Dalhousie Re\•iew, the Universil_\' c?f'J.f'indsor Re\'iew, and has an article forthcoming in the Journal c~(Narralive Technique. She is at work on a book on Stephen Leacock. T. E. Vadney is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Manitoba. He is the author of a book, The Wayward Liberal: A Politirnl Biography of Donald Richberg ( 1970). He has a review essay on the "planned society" forthcoming in Queen's Quarterly. He is now at work on a study of business planning in the United States since the Civil War. News Notes The Review is one of the 526 English language periodicals whose articlesfrom their first volumes through the end of 1974-have been indexed in the Combined_ Retrospective Index Sets (C RJS), published by the Carrollton Press. Inc. CRIS is composed of three self-contained sets, covering History, Political Science, and Sociology, including entries for more than 400,000 articles, divided into 585 subject categories. Because of the size of the data base (with an average of 675 articles per subject category) a separate keyword index is provided for each category. As a result each article is listed under an a\.erage of 3.2 keywords to provide a total of more than 1.4 million subject citations for the entire collection. The three sets also contain their own Cumulative Author Indexes in separate volumes. Eliot Re\'ieii·, under the editorship of Shyamal Bagchee, is now located in the Department of English at the University of Alberta. In 1977 TSER will publish an 1100item bibliography of Eliot criticism, supplementary to the standard bibliography, compiled by Armin P. Frank of G"ottingen University. The Editors of the Black Abolitionist Papers Editorial Project, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Historical Publictions and Records Commission, seek assistance in locating correspondence, 102 editorials, and any other pnmary source materials of Black abolit10nists, 1830-65. While the project is topical, it focuses on nine prominent figures: William Wells Brown, the Fortens (Robert, James, Charlotte), Henry Highland Garnet, William C. Nell, J. W. C. Pennington, Charles Lenox Remand, Samuel Ringgold Ward, David Ruggles, and J. McCune Smith. Any assistance in locating documents will be greatly appreciated.
