240 Announcements Canadian Review of American Studies Revue canadienne d'etude,same, zcames The Canadian Association of American Studies and the editors of the Cintuiian Review of American Studies are pleased to announce the 1997 winner of the association's award for the publication which best exemplifies the discipline of American Studies is Susan Kallin, fo rher article entitled "North to the West: Jack London and the Literature of U.S. Expansion in Canada," which appeared in Volume 26, no. 2. 16-18 April 1998. The Department of English and Philosophy at Arkansas State University Uonesboro campus) will hold a conference entitled "Delta Studies Symposium IV: Creative Expressions Beyond the Blues," which will focus on forms of expressive culture specific to the Mississippi River Delta. presenters might give special attention to the ways in which the blues has influenced other forms (musical, literary, and visual), to other creative expressions that have emerged from teh Delta experience, adn to pedagogical approaches to these creative expressions from the Delta. We invite scholarly papers, organized panels, creative multimedia presentations, and demonstrations that examine any form of expressive culture that is specific to the region. Proposals for papers should include a 250-word summary; those for creative presentations should include a sampling of previous work. Deadline for submissions is 15 December 1997.
