In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • SEL Transitions

This issue’s masthead page registers a number of changes to our editorial board. Some of our longest serving members have become emeritus advisors, and their names have been removed from the masthead but will continue to appear on our website, www.sel.rice.edu. The masthead also includes the names of numerous new appointees to our board. We are acknowledging our emeritus members and welcoming our new advisors over the course of four issues, according to the area of specialty.

With this autumn issue we specifically welcome as emeritus advisor one of the most respected nineteenth-century scholars: Rosemarie Bodenheimer, professor emerita of English at Boston College. Professor Bodenheimer’s advice over the years has been most helpful.

Nineteenth-century specialists new to the masthead are Mary Favret, Professor of English at Johns Hopkins University; Elaine Freedgood, Professor of English at New York University; and Adela Pinch, Professor of English at the University of Michigan. We know they will be a great help in encouraging and developing submissions from a wide variety of sources for our autumn issues.
