Gabriel W. Lasker served as editor of Human Biology from 1953 to 1988 (Mascie-Taylor 2002). Each year, Human Biology recognizes the most significant contribution to the journal with an award named in his honor. The 2015 Gabriel W. Lasker Award is presented to Jada Benn Torres and Gabriel A. Torres Colón for their paper "Racial Experience as an Alternative Operationalization of Race" (Benn Torres et al. 2015).
