Abstract

Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is currently one of the most commonly practiced psychotherapeutic approaches. There appear to be some striking similarities between CBT and Adlerian Psychotherapy, and it has been suggested that CBT is rooted in Adlerian Psychotherapy. There are several versions of CBT, and some have their origins in the theory and practice of Adlerian psychotherapy. The article describes the similarities between the two approaches, with a brief focus on the theory, but a more extensive focus on the therapeutic processes of assessment, case conceptualization, and treatment planning.
