This article explores the response of the Northern Ireland government to the Jewish refugee crisis during the years preceding the outbreak of the Second World War. The author examines the government's treatment of asylum seekers, and in particular its attempts to attract refugee businessmen who might contribute to solving Ulster's chronic unemployment and economic blight.
