L'ethnographe dans le sous-terrain : Fragments biographiques

Résumé:

Cet essai propose de pénétrer le sous-terrain de l'ethnographe, au sens d'une percée dans la biographie du chercheur s'efforçant d'accomplir ce geste que Georges Devereux nous recommandait en tant qu'observateurs des comportements humains : tenter de nous comprendre nous-mêmes afin de saisir au mieux ce que nous transférons dans les sujetsobjets de nos connaissances. Les matériaux de la réflexion sont constitués de fragments biographiques qui révèlent autant de questions fondatrices d'un parcours de recherche. Contre toute illusion auto-analytique, les terrains d'enquête sont dès lors considérés à partir du sous-terrain qui les a fondés sans pour autant que ce dernier n'apparaisse dans la pleine clarté d'une conscience pour laquelle il conserve toujours sa part d'ombre.

This essay proposes to enter the underground of the ethnographer, in the sense of a breakthrough in the researcher's biography striving to accomplish this gesture Georges Devereux recommended us as observers of human behavior: trying to understand ourselves in order to better understand what we transfer in the subjects-objects of our knowledge. The materials of this reflection consist of biographical fragments that reveal some foundational issues of a research career. Against any self-analytical illusion, fieldwork on the ground is therefore considered from the underground that founded it without considering that the latter could appear in all the clarity of conscience for which it still keeps its dark side.
