The trouble begins on the cover, as a space obsessed piglet skateboards down an ironing-board ramp in the living room, toy rocket ship held high. The inevitable "CRASH!" is not long in arriving, followed by an offstage parent's decree, "You're in time out." While the parental five-minute countdown toward release resounds through a closed door, the piglet merrily plans and executes his escape, drawing a rocket ship on the floor, boarding it with his pet bird, and taking off for the moon, where he plants his flag. He's back home in time for "Time's up" and a few words of praise for his good behavior. His skateboard is returned and the 'rent is none the wiser. Now it's up to the audience to assess Barba's cleverly planted clues and determine whether the adventure was imaginary or real. Piglet and his domestic surroundings are thickly outlined in black and colored in primary hues, while his space exploration bursts into a rainbow of secondary colors. Pair this with the venerable Where the Wild Things Are for some evidence-based discussion on real/imaginary journeys. [End Page 399]
