Abstract

There are ten recognized texts (actually nine) for Poe’s poem “Eulalie” that carry authorial weight. Several of these texts are manuscripts, mostly without date, and their origins have been poorly documented, leaving questions about their assigned place among the printed texts. New research, and improved access to historical newspapers and other resources, at last allows us to remove the veil and confidently establish a proper bibliography for the poem, and possibly to shed light on its origins.
