Abstract

An environmental consultant contemplates the problems within her nine-year marriage while working in a remote midwestern village, managing a crew that is cleaning up impacted groundwater. She encounters prejudice from both the locals and her own field crew, directed at the homosexual owner of the haunted bed and breakfast where she is staying. Both the prejudice and the B&B’s hauntings cause her to carefully examine the issues between her and her husband. Ultimately, her consulting philosophies provide a pathway to managing the end of her marriage.
