This study provides an evaluation of the complex ways college mathematics influences stability or changes in students’ college major choices over the four years of undergraduate experience. The authors developed a structural equation model and tested it with the “college mathematics experience” as the focal variable in students’ final major selection or dropout. They report results of separate model estimates for three fields: scientific/technical, quantitative business, and business management majors.
