The authors developed faculty discussion groups and formal classroom research studies to examine practice-centred inquiry, a proposed teaching improvement process. Twenty-nine professors participated in the discussion groups, which encouraged reflection and experimentation. Some also collaborated in formal classroom studies, one of which is included as an example. Findings indicated that students with varied exposure to concept mapping exhibited fewer instances of misconceptions in conceptual knowledge.
