Call for Abstracts for the 23rd Pacific Science Congress

PSA and Academia Sinica are announcing a Call for Abstracts for the 23rd Pacific Science Congress (PSC-23). The Congress will be held 13–17 June 2016 at the campus of Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan.

If you would like to submit abstracts for an oral presentation or poster, please refer to the thematic categories for abstract submission and the important dates as listed below. Please submit your abstracts containing the requested information to the PSC-23 official website (http://www.psc2016.sinica.edu.tw/abstract.asp). Abstracts should fall into one of the following Congress thematic categories:

  1. 1. Climate Change and Earth System Sciences

  2. 2. Biodiversity and Natural Resources

  3. 3. Food/Water/Energy

  4. 4. Human Health

  5. 5. Human Diversity and Inclusive Development

  6. 6. Disaster Risk Reduction

  7. 7. Science for Society: Building Green Societies

  8. 8. Emerging Technologies

Acceptance of abstracts will be judged on originality, scientific merit, study design, clarity of expression, presentation of data, adherence to the rules of submission, and relevance to the topic.

Please also note the following:

  • • The abstract should state clearly the reasons for the study or review, the results obtained, and the conclusions. Promises to explain the work or vague presentations of data will result in rejection. Limit your abstract to 300 words. [End Page 251]

  • • The Congress referees prefer and will look with greatest favor on abstracts submitted in the Objectives-Methods-Results-Conclusions format.

  • • Congress referees will consider abstracts submitted in different styles only when the above-described format is inappropriate to the content.

  • • Short and descriptive titles are preferred, avoiding the declarative or interrogatory title styles. Abbreviations conjured up for use within an abstract are annoying and require constant reference on the part of readers, and non-standard abbreviations should be avoided. There should be no abbreviations used in the conclusion. Authors agree to copy editing of the abstract.

  • • PLEASE NOTE THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING ABSTRACT PROPOSALS IS 7 APRIL 2016.

  • • The PSC-23 Secretariat can be contacted at psc2016taipei@gmail.com.
