Abstract

Through close analysis of Marceline Desbordes-Valmore’s and Louise Ackermann’s readings of the literature of ancient Persia and India, Sa’di’s Gulistan and the Mahabharata, respectively, this article examines the specific meaning their texts give to the ‘Orient’ as a source of global poetic exchange.
