Falling Off the Wagon

Sherezada (Chiqui) Vicioso

To Carlos Nejar
Each time I approach
my other
anxious to journey on the ether
of her secret passages
Each time I must write down
what I think
To see the law of probability
all call my existence
move up and down
Each time I am on the verge
of accepting the past
as the total absence
of explanation
a fire of yellow straw
the word
shows its face
and I return to reconsider
my appointment

Translated by Daisy Cocco De Filippis
