Abstract

Abstract (Lang: Spanish):

The close relationship maintained between the Hispanic Medieval Courts and the garden can be appreciated both inside and outside the palace. The religious character of the garden made it into an essential space of the aristocratic mentality, as space for reflection, but also as place reserved for the delight. This article analyzes the symbolic meaning transmitted by the garden, in accordance with the Monarchy. Thus, we can observe the influence of the garden in the architecture of the palaces and monasteries visited by kings and queens and recognize the role of courtly literature in the transmission of the political image of the garden. The importance of the ideas generated around the garden will be also analyzed from the perspectives of the rituals and feasts celebrated at the Hispanic Courts. Furthermore, it will be reflected in the royal chambers through written testimonies linked with the royal treasures.
