Hollywood Is a Verb: Los Angeles Tackles the Oxford English Dictionary

In March 2016 the Library Foundation of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Public Library will produce a series of events called “Hollywood Is a Verb: Los Angeles Tackles the Oxford English Dictionary.” Comprising approximately seventy programs, the project will be mounted at the Los Angeles Central Library and in branch libraries and other cultural venues across the city. In looking at the OED through a California lens, the programs will highlight enrichment of the English language through the incorporation of words from other languages and cultures, and it will emphasize the contribution of readers from around the globe in creating and developing the dictionary itself.
