Abstract

The author, a sculptor, discusses her non-permanent environmental and permanent outdoor sculptures. Included is a description of her design of her home. Her latest outdoor sculpture ‘Torres Vibrantes’, now in construction, will be 30m tall and will stand on the centre strip of a highway leading into Monterrey, Mexico.

She describes also ‘sculpture collages’, which are small works consisting of sculptures made from thin aluminium sheet affixed to collages of magazine cut-outs or to photographs. She also tells of her use of photography in showing images of small sculptures on an exaggerated scale in relation to the images of real buildings behind them. She ends the article by analyzing her attitude to the ephemeral character of the environmental sculptures she has exhibited and by mentioning her major concerns during 17 years as Director of the Museums and Galleries of the National University of Mexico.
