FOR THE ANTIREALIST

i was making a sandwich& remembering againher father’s wharf & trying to let it goi was trying to take my mind almostanywhere & i came to a hard-wooddesk which at first was full of thingssome papers a knick-knack& pens then it was empty i reachedthe desk & touched its surfacewhich was smooth & reddish brownthis was my father’s deskthough i never met my fathernor seen his desk & suddenly i wanted toleave again i came to a basket with ababy in it & a handful of goldi took the gold & left the babythere & bought a car pursuing again the cubanwoman driving quickly on a highwayset upon a hill with a view into the valleyi came to the seashore withmy mother who bought me an ice-creamcone with sprinkles i was happythere squirting the clown in the mouth& launching the frogsinto space though stilllonely in this thought & wiped my browwith a towel & asked to take a break& walked away toward the door & sawMarie i saw Mariesmiling at me & she put her handson the table as if to get up though behindher in her reflection i saw whatlooked to be a white bull tamping the groundsoftly with his two immaculate paws [End Page 195]
