This year the WesternCanadianand Atlantic CanadaStudiesconferences join effortsto presentthe westernandAtlanticregionsfrom an inter-disciplinary and historical perspective. The conference willbeheldin twoparts,thefirstin Calgary, •3-•5 February•977, the second in Fredericton,•7-•9 April •977. Eightcore sessions are scheduled. Eachwill presentone speakercoveringthe westand one covering theeast.Sessions willcoverthefollowing topics: Francophone minorities, economic development, urbandevelopment, theroleofimmigration, literaryreflections ,political culture,religion,thewritingof history.Thesecoresessions willmove fromCalgarytoFredericton. Onlythecommentators (andtheaudience) willchange. Eachconference willalsohaveadditional sessions of morelocalinterest. Special guest speakers willbe the Hon.
