Abstract

The New English–Irish Dictionary (NEID) was launched online in 2013 <www.focloir.ie>. It is the first major English–Irish dictionary since 1959. By July 2014 the NEID contained over 21,000 headwords and 75,000 sense units, along with sound and grammar files for much of the Irish content. It is being published incrementally online, with new content and revisions being uploaded at regular intervals until the end of 2015, by which stage it will have approximately 40,000 headwords and 130,000 sense units. A print version of NEID is to be published in 2016.
