SUMMARY:

Archival publication on the history of Kazan University contains several questionnaires presented to graduates of the University in the second half of the 20th century. Questions contained in these documents concern everyday life of students and teachers, their economic situation during the period of association with the school, perceptions of the professorate by the students, myths that circulated among members of the University community, as well as ways in which members of the community perceived themselves in the University and the University in the larger world. The publication also contains transcripts of an interview taken by University officials from I. A. Ratner, who had studied with V. I. Lenin at Kazan University in 1887. The interview was conducted on January 19, 1947. Ratner discussed his impressions of the University, and recounted his meetings with Lenin. He was also asked by the University officials to suggest ways to organize the “Lenin’s room”.
