Philippa Maddern 1952–2014

Scholars and friends of Philippa Maddern the world over are in grief over her recent death. Much has been written already in tribute, and Parergon will carry a full obituary in its next issue, for ANZAMEMS and Parergon owe much to her foundational work as Secretary/Treasurer, and her ongoing support on the Parergon board ever since its move to Perth in the late 1990s.

Philippa was an inspiring leader, a great teacher, a brilliant researcher and a generous friend.

Her lasting legacy will be found spectacularly in the ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions, and pervasively in the lives of countless students and scholars of all ages and career stages for whom she was exemplar, mentor, collaborator, and friend.
