Changes at VS

This winter, we have had the privilege of working with three excellent undergraduate interns.

Ava Dickerson is a junior majoring in English, French, and Archival Studies, the last of which she made up. She is honored that the VS staff would welcome her back for a second semester as a super-intern and would like to thank Molly, Lindsay, Mallory, Ben, and special guest Brian for including her in their heated discussions of children’s literature and video games. She apologizes to Mallory for always having a contrary opinion, although it is common knowledge that Katniss did not deserve Peeta. From dissolving her ignorance of John Ruskin and Thomas Carlyle to helping her remember which adverbs are followed by a hyphen, her experience at VS distracted her from the terrors of rapidly approaching grad school and reminded her why she wanted to pursue English and archival work in the first place.

Samuel J. Ostrowski will be graduating this May with a degree in English and Theatre and Drama. He spent time during his collegiate experience being a columnist for the Indiana Daily Student, acting as Artistic Director for the undergraduate theatre company University Players, and drinking many “red eyes.” His proudest accomplishment during his time at VS was teaching Ben Bagocius how to tweet. If he doesn’t find employment soon, he plans to be paid to teach Ben how to live in the twenty-first century.

Madeline Jean Soens Rossman will graduate this May with a degree in English. She spent her senior year working on an English honors project that compared and contrasted Anne from The Woman in White with Bertha from Jane Eyre. Working on Victorian Studies allowed her to experience helping to create an academic journal, and she found her time there to be invaluable and fun. Madeline does not know where she will be after graduation, but she hopes to pursue a career in academia, either as a teacher or an administrator. If all else fails, she can be found working on her novel, which will be set (where else?) in a dystopian future. [End Page 373]
