I am pleased to make the following announcement:

The Institute of Historical Research, London, has launched a new seminar series on the history of sexuality. It is intended to explore historical perspectives on men and women as sexual beings in the past on the categories through which sexual selfhood has been experienced, sexual reform movements, sexuality and urban spaces, medical and criminological discourses on sexuality, and representations of sexuality. It also explores the historiography of the field, along with those varied methodological and theoretical approaches to the study of the sexual past that have shaped the subdiscipline. The seminar also provides a forum for an exploration of the intersections between the history of sexuality and related academic practices. The seminar series began in January 2014 and will meet once monthly. If you have questions about or wish to participate in the seminar, please contact Craig Griffiths (c.griffiths@qmul.ac.uk).
