Abstract
Salman Rushdie acknowledges his indebtedness to Philip Roth. Rushdie’s 2001 novel, Fury serves as homage to Philip Roth’s Sabbath’s Theater (1995). Details of the protagonists’ professional and personal lives overlap in significant ways, and much of the plots of each work take place in the same area and at a similar time.
