This article describes the author’s experiences teaching oral history–based audio and video documentary techniques to high school students in the United States. More generally, it assesses the opportunities and challenges of doing such work in the digital age. The author argues that the digital revolution challenges students to process their research and writing and then present their work in ways that are appealing to broad and increasingly accessible audiences. Hyperlinks to samples of the students’ video documentaries appear at the end of the article.
