From the Editor

Aloha kākou! I am delighted to welcome this special issue, which presents the contemporary music scene in Indonesia. Asian Music is committed to a wide view of music in Asia. However, a special issue is an opportunity for depth and focus on a particular topic or geo-cultural area, which in this case necessitates added length. I express my great thanks to guest editors Jeremy Wallach and Esther Clinton for their vision, collegiality, and stewardship. Editorship is often a solitary office; it was a pleasure to collaborate with these two colleagues who generously and enthusiastically assumed major responsibility for this issue.
