Abstract

Nge Lay received a BA in painting from the National University of Art and Culture in Yangon, Myanmar. She had her first solo show, The Relationship between the Great Nothing, in 2011 at the Youkobo Art Space in Tokyo, Japan. Group shows include Women In-Between 1985-2012, Asian Women Art Exhibition, Okinawa Prefecture Art Museum; PhotoPhnompenh (PPP) 2012, Institut Français du Cambodge, Phnom Penh, Cambodia; the 2012 Singapore International Photography Festival, Singapore; the International Orange Photo Festival, Changsha, China; On/Off, Almaz Collective Art Studio, Hanoi, Vietnam; and Magnetic Power: ASEAN-Korea Contemporary Photography, Seoul, Korea. She is the co-organizer of the Thuyèdan Village Art Project in Pyay, Myanmar, and was a finalist for the 2011 Sovereign Asian Art Prize. Upcoming shows include the Mie Prefecture Art Museum, Tse City, Japan in Spring 2013; and the Yokohama Museum in Japan in Fall 2013.
