Linguistic Analysis of Changes in Interpreting: 1973–1985

Here are assessed the outputs of two sign language interpreters. Both were recorded interpreting and transliterating two spoken English texts in 1973, as part of an investigation of interpreter competence. They were then recorded interpreting the same material again in 1985. Comparison is made between the earlier and later each interpretations of each interpreter, and their interpretations are analyzed for the degree to which they use American Sign Language.
