In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Erratum

Erratum to: Mayrl, Damon, and Jeremy E. Uecker. “Higher Education and Religious Liberalization among Young Adults .” Social Forces 90(1):181–208.

An error occurred in the construction of the higher education variable used in this article. While conclusions from analyses using a corrected education variable are overall the same, there are slight differences in the figures reported in the text below and in the tables contained in the online supplementary data. The second author accepts responsibility for the mistake.

In the first paragraph and fifth sentence of the Results section, text should have appeared as follows: “However, college students do experience increased doubts about religion at a somewhat higher rate (31% vs. 20%), while non-students report decreased belief in a personal god (29% vs. 23%) and increased opposition to conversion attempts (39% vs. 31%) at higher rates.”

In the second paragraph and second sentence of the Discussion section, text should have appeared as follows: “In supplementary analyses (not shown), college attendance also failed to predict differences on five other variables measuring religious beliefs. On a sixth additional variable, we found evidence of a protective effect: college students appear less likely to stop believing in an afterlife.”

In the fourth sentence of the same paragraph, the text should have appeared as follows: “Thus, on 9 out of 13 possible beliefs, attending college shows no net liberalizing effect before accounting for social networks; on three others, college appears to support traditional beliefs; on only one outcome—increased religious doubt—does college appear to undermine traditional religious belief.”

The rest of the errors are contained within the tables, which are available online (see the supplementary data). [End Page 1115]
