Contributors PATRICIA L. BADIR is Assistanl Professor of English at the University of British Columbia. She is presently writing a book on post-Reformation representations of Mary Magdalen. Her artiCles have been published in Theatre Journal, Journal of Medieval and Early Modem Studies, Theatre Survey, and Exemplaria . ALBERT BERMEL'S published translations include more than 40 French and Italian plays. His books of criticism deal with modem theatre, Moliere, farce from Aristophanes to Woody Allen, and Shakespeare at the Moment: Playing the Comedies (Heinemann, 2000). He has written 180 articles and reviews on theatre, film, poJitics, and literature. Bermel, a professor emeritus at Lehman College and the Graduate Center of CUNY, has also taught at Yale, Columbia , and Juilliard. He received a George Jean Nathan award for criticism and a Guggenheim Fellowship for playwriting. He has several plays and translations now in production. The author of ten books on modern drama - most recently, Avant Garde Theatre, t892-t992, Twentieth-Century British alld American Theatre, A Critical Guide to Archives, and A Sourcebook Oil Naturalist Theatre - he also edits the Directors in Perspective, Canadian Dramatist, and Lives of the Theatre series, as well as being on the editorial board of The Cambridge GI/ide to Theatre and a contributor to The Oxford lIIustrated History ofTheatre. PRAPASSAREE KRAMER was born in Bangkok, Thailand, graduated from Chulalongkorn University (Bangkok), and holds an MA in English from Chulalongkorn , an MA in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin Madison , and a PhD in English Literature from Purdue University. Her previous publications include "No Man's Land as Dream Play" in Cycnos 14:1 (1997) and "Stoppard's Arcadia: Research, Time, Loss" (co-written with Jeffrey Kramer) in Modern Drama 40:1 (1997), for which the authors received the Modern Drama essay prize for best submission by a new scholar. GABRIELLE KURLANDER is the producing director of the Castillo Theatre. She has been a member of the Castillo acting ensemble since 1986.
