Biographies of Contributors


George C. Browder is Professor Emeritus of History at the State University of New York, Fredonia, and has been a Revson Fellow at the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies. He is author of Foundations of the Nazi Police State: The Formation of SIPO and SD (1990), and Hitler's Enforcers: The Gestapo and the SS Security Service in the Nazi Revolution (1996).

Yehoshua R. Büchler is Director of the Moreshet Archives, Givat Haviva, Israel. He has authored three books and more than a dozen articles on the Holocaust and on the history of Jews in the former Czechoslovakia. He edited the Slovakia chapter and co-edited the Czechoslovakia and Carpatho-Russia chapter of the Encyclopedia of Jewish Life Before and During the Holocaust (New York University Press in association with Yad Vashem, 2001).

Hava Eshkoli (Wagman)is a Senior Researcher at the Finkler Institute for Holocaust Research, Bar-Ilan University. Her publications include Silence: Mapai and the Holocaust, 1939-1942 (1997, in Hebrew), and articles exploring the response of the Yishuv and its leadership to the Holocaust. She has been a Research Fellow at the International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem, and recently completed a book entitled Between Rescue and Redemption: Religious Zionism in Palestine Confronts the Holocaust (forthcoming).

Susanna Schrafstetter is a Lecturer in History at the University of Glamorgan, United Kingdom, and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She received her Ph.D. in 1998 from the University of Munich. She is author of Die dritte Atommacht: Britische Nichtverbreitungspolitik im Dienst von Statussicherung und Deutschlandpolitik 1952-68 (1999).
