In Aleph 12.1, a regrettable error occurred in my article “Maimonides and Māshāʾallāh on the Ninth Orb of the Signs and Astrology.” Between pages 107 and 108, in the transcription of the translation of the third chapter of Maimonides’ Laws of the Foundation of the Torah, III:7, a number of words were omitted. Here is the correct translation (omitted text in italics):

“The ninth orb itself has no division, nor any of these figures, nor any star, but one sees in the asterisms of the eighth orb, by means of its larger stars, the shape<s> of these figures or something like them. These twelve figures were situated directly opposite these divisions only at the time of the Flood, when they were assigned these names. At present, they [the constellations of the eighth orb that were aligned against the twelve parts of the ninth orb] have rotated somewhat, for the stars of the eighth orb rotate like the sun and the moon, but they rotate sluggishly, such that all the stars <of the eighth orb> move in 70 years approximately the same distance that the sun and the moon traverse in one day.” [End Page 413]
