CONTRIBUTORS SHARON ARONOFSKY WELTMAN, Assistant Professor of English at Louisiana State University, has written several articles on Ruskin, appearing or forthcoming in Prose Studies, Nineteenth-Century Literature, and the new volume Remaking Queen Victoria (edited by Homans and Munich), from Cambridge UP. She has recently completed her book manuscript, Mythic Discourse and Gender Subversion: John Ruskin in Nineteenth-Century Context. JILL DUREY lectures in English and creative writing at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia. Her early research was in comparative literature and focussed on the novels of George Eliot, Gustave Flaubert and Lev Tolstoy. She is currently writing a book on Anthony Trollope and the Church of England, and is planning a biography of Anthony Wilson Thorold, the late nineteenth-century Bishop of Winchester and Trollope's relative by marraige. PETER C. ERB is Professor in the Department of Religion and Culture, Wilfrid Laurier University, and is presently completing an edition of the correspondence between William E. Gladstone and Henry E. Manning (1833-1891). His most recent publication is a study, edition, and translation of Johann Adam Monier, The Unity ofthe Church (Washington: Catholic U ofAmerica P, 1996). GINGER S. FROST is Assistant Professor of History at Samford University. She is the author of Promises Broken: Courtship, Class, and Gender in Victorian England (Charlottesville: UP of Virginia, 1995) and "Bigamy and Cohabitation in Victorian England"Journal ofFamilyHistory 22 (July 1997), forthcoming. She is now at work on a study ofcohabiting couples in England in the nineteenth century. W.C. HARRIS is a doctoral candidate in the English department at the Johns Hopkins University. He is currently working on a dissertation on theoretizations ofstate formation in literary and theological texts ofthe American Renaissance. VERONICA KELLY, University of Queensland, publishes on popular nineteenthcentury theatre history and repertoire, and on contemporary Australian theatre and drama.
