EDITOR'S LETTER It is a pleasure to report that the Review has had considerable success in realizing the goal of diversifying contents. In order to reflect the broad interests of the RMMLA membership, we have been considering articles in areas as diverse as Chicano literature, Japanese literature, and science-fiction film. The present issue brings a study on a Brazilian writer, and our next issue will probably carry an article on the East European novel. This editor is convinced that one of the distinguishing features of scholarly publishing, a feature which serves to classify journals in terms of their degree of academic seriousness, is the attention given the preparation of manuscripts before they are sent out for typesetting. Part of the attention which manuscripts now receive before publication in the Review is a careful copy-editing in terms of style, citation and footnote format. Contributors may assist the editorial office of the Review greatly by preparing their manuscripts to conform to the MLA Style Sheet and the Chicago Manual of Style. Footnotes should be used only for documentary purposes, and punctuation should be consistent; we prefer an "open" use of the comma. ...
