Western Literature Association Conference The 32nd annual Western Literature Association Conference will be held 15-18 October 1997 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Western Literature Association welcomes papers, readings, and proposals for sessions that explore and define various traditions and influences shaping the literatures of the American West. How do new western writings relate to more traditionally canonical works? What are some of the distinctive themes or formal characteristics of the several western literary traditions? What are the historical terms in the development of these traditions? Featured speakers include Rudolfo Anaya, Louis Owens, Denise Chavez, and Kate Horsley. Submission date for all papers and proposals is 15 June 1997. Each paper or presentation is limited to fifteen minutes reading time.
