A NOTE OF THANKS As the RMMLA Convention Program goes to press, I would like to thank the following: Those who made this conference in Ogden possible: Dr. Paul H. Thompson, President of Weber State University, and Dr. Robert B. Smith, Academic VP, for hosting the RMMLA with the welcome that it deserves. The three who sat with me to plot a great conference: 1) Sherwin W. Howard, Dean of Arts and Humanities (but President of Deep Springs College, CA, as of 1 July 1992); 2) Candadai Seshachari, Chair, Department ofEnglish; 3) Robert Belka, Chair, Department of Foreign Languages. Ronald Wooden (Chair) and faculty of the Department of Performing Arts for providing the Faculty Showcase on Saturday, 17 October 1992. The English Department for sponsoring William Kennedy's reading and for providing conference folders, name tags, and a host of other things. Two colleagues who joined the working team early: Robert M. Hogge, for arranging the Publishers' Exhibit; and John Schwiebert for travel arrangements with Delta Airlines. The staffat Ogden Park Hotel for gracious and prompt convention arrangements. The Ogden Convention Bureau for cheerful help. AND all those colleagues in the English and Foreign Languages Departments who responded to my SOS call in May and who, come October, will be vigilantly doing a myriad ofchores without which a conference can fall apart even after it has begun.
