RMMLA-Huntington Award In conjunction with the Huntington Library, the RMMLA offers a $1,800 stipend to support research at the Huntington. All members of the RMMLA are eligible for the RMMLA-Huntington award for 1993, and we especially encourage younger scholars to apply. The deadline is January 1, 1993. Criteria for selection include value of the project, appropriateness of the research to material available at the Huntington, promise and experience ofthe researcher, and proposed use or distribution of the results. To apply, send five copies ofa vita indicatingprior research and publication plus a description of the project and any work completed on it, along with a letter indicating what Huntington materials would be used, the approximate dates of residence, and a statement agreeing that all funds received will be used for the purpose of research and that, should the candidate be unable to use the funds, the RMMLA would be notified immediately. * * * The 1992 RMMLA-Huntington Award was received by Professor Eugene R. Cunnar ofNew Mexico State University. Professor Cunnar's title is "Milton Reading Women Writers: Sexual Politics in Paradise Lost from New Historical Perspectives." Professor Cunnar theorizes that women writers defending themselves by reinterpreting the account ofthe fall in Genesis began to expand and transform various genres. Milton's treatment ofthe gender status ofwomen is strikingly similar to that ofsome ofthe women writers. Professor Elizabeth Holtze chaired the RMMLA committee which also consisted ofProfessor Larry Langten, Metropolitan State College of Denver, and Professor Mary Rose Sullivan, University of Colorado, Denver. We make several attempts to contact members to notify them when their membership is about to expire, but our addresses are sometimes out of date.
