To find my kind of vital fluid, go to the ocean and into the bodies of certain creatures. Go to oysters, to octopi. Take a crab, hack it

open, and you will see me marbling the cutting board. Forget how it appears here on the tender meat below your thumb: I do not travel

your veins. There is no indigo going to and from your heart. Even at your bluest, when you look too long at your wrist. I have nothing to do with it. [End Page 125]
