NEWSLETTER The November 1975 issue of San Jose Studies will focus on the life and career of John Steinbeck. The Editors will welcome manuscripts from all areas of Steinbeck research — including the literary, biographical, bibliographical , sociological, and scientific. Manuscripts should be sent to The Editor, San Jose Studies, San Jose State University, San Jose, California 95192, by May 15, 1975. The Utah Studies in Literature and Linguistics, recently created by members of the Department of Languages, University of Utah, in cooperation with the Herbert Lang Verlag (Bern and Frankfurt), will publish one or two monographs per year in the fields of modern and medieval literature and linguistics. Printing facilities allow printing of English, French, German, Spanish and possibly other non-Slavic languages. Inquiries should be directed to either of the corresponding editors, Profs. Robert E. Helbling and Gerhard P. Knapp, Department of Languages, University of Utah, Salt Lake City 84112. Other members of the Editorial Board are Professors Andrée ML. Barnett, Luis Lorenzo-Rivero, Wolff A. von Schmidt. The editors and the publisher try to keep printing subsidies down to a minimum according to current standards. Publication spans usually are not to exceed 6-9 months after the contract has been signed. The first two volumes of the series are forthcoming. Two further titles are under negotiation.
