Call for Papers: 2012 Pennsylvania Historical Association Conference

  • November 1–3, 2012

  • Location: Harrisburg Hilton Hotel, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

  • Proposal Submission Deadline:

  • February 24, 2012

The Pennsylvania Historical Association invites proposals for its 2012 Annual Meeting in the Pennsylvania state capital of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, hosted by Penn State Harrisburg and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC), November 1–3, 2012, at the Harrisburg Hilton Hotel. Full session proposals are encouraged, although proposals for individual papers and poster presentations are also welcome. Proposals should address the historical and cultural experience in and around the state of Pennsylvania. The program committee is especially interested in forums and panels that focus on events and movements showing the intersections of community, regional, state, and national contexts. The location of the conference in the state capital of Harrisburg in a national election year creates an especially inviting opportunity for presentations that concern issues of power and politics, industry and economy, peace and war, health and public policy, and education and public heritage. The program committee also seeks panels on social and cultural history regarding the [End Page 315] PHMC’s annual theme in 2012 of foodways and interdisciplinary approaches to historical experience in commemoration of the fortieth anniversary of the American Studies Program at Penn State Harrisburg.

Submit proposals electronically in Word with the following information:
