Abstract

Using data from three-wave longitudinal surveys of two cohorts of the Gates Millennium Scholarship (GMS) recipients and comparison non-recipients, this study found that receiving the GMS scholarship awards enhanced student leadership efficacy and the probability of actually holding leadership position through enhancing student engagement in college activities.
