Joan E. Cashin is associate professor of history at Ohio State University. She received her doctorate from Harvard University, and she is the author of A Family Venture: Men and Women on the Southern Frontier (1991) and First Lady Of The Confederacy: Varina Davis’s Civil War (2006). She is the editor of Our Common Affairs: Texts from Women in the Old South (1996) and The War Was You and Me: Civilians in the American Civil War (2002).

Wayne Wei-Siang Hsieh teaches at the U.S. Naval Academy. He is the author of West Pointers and the Civil War: The Old Army in War and Peace (University of North Carolina Press, 2010).

Anne E. Marshall is assistant professor of history at Mississippi State University in Starkville. Her book, Creating a Confederate Kentucky: The Lost Cause and Civil War Memory in a Border State was published by University of North Carolina Press in 2010.
