This paper documents the raced and gendered bodily dynamics that women of color (WOC) faculty report encountering with White students in the classroom: specifically, how WOC feel that White students misrecognize their bodies; how such bodily misrecognition affects faculty-student interactions; and how WOC negotiate these bodily assumptions within the academy.
