Contributors James Archambeault, Lexington, Kentucky, is the author of two books of photographs. A professional photographer, he has exhibited and sold his works throughout the United States. Bob Henry Baber, author of several books, teaches at Southeast Community College in Cumberland, Kentucky. Garry Barker has gained his knowledge of crafts in the field, so to speak, and served as a consultant, juror, and lecturer in the region. He has several books of fiction and one chapbook of poems in print. Artie Ann Bates, M.D., went back to her native mountains of Eastern Kentucky to practice medicine. She has started a local writers' group at Blackey, Kentucky. Pamela Bates says, "I'm an artist (acrylic) and have won a few awards. Usually I paint old houses and portraits." She has returned to school, attending classes at Cleveland Community College in Tennessee, majoring in architecture . Harry Brown teaches at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond. His poetry has appeared in half a dozen journals and poetry books the last two years. Linda Burggraf lives and works in Knoxville, Tennessee. She has had poetry published in dozens of journals and anthologies. She has also received four awards for poetry. Thomas D. Burkett, Herndon, Virginia, has poetry appearing in a variety of publications. Jim Clark, a professor at the University of Georgia, has twice received the Academy of American Poets' College Prize, and also is the recipient of the Randall Jarrell Scholarship and several others. Jill Cox moved from Tennessee to Florida where she is writing a novel "and adjusting to the difference in just about everything," she says. "Nothing will ever take my Tennessee heritage out of me-nor my accent!" Barbara Bates Deatherage is a returning student at the University of Kentucky and does freelance writing. She has appeared in Appalachian Heritage. Julia Nunnally Duncan's poems have recently appeared in almost a dozen literary journals. She lives in Marion, North Carolina. Jim Gentry is Director of the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild in Asheville, North Carolina. He is a fiber worker. L. Milton Hankins has numerous nonfiction publication credits; he also writes fiction and poetry. He is pastor of the Mineral Baptist Church in Virginia. Wayne Hogan is no stranger to these pages. Known for his drawings and his humorous essays , he is also a poet. Elizabeth Howard is a former high school English teacher who lives in Crossville, Tennessee . She writes poetry and short stories. Jon Howson is a Berea College graduate and graphic artist for the Berea College Press. Shirley Crace Hughes lives in Bloomfield, Indiana, and works at Indiana University. She says, "I am beginning to trace my ancestry to different parts of Kentucky." Ed Lynch says he saw much flooding through his work as a reporter for WKYT-TV in Lexington , Kentucky. In addition to extensive journalism experience, he has done music and book reviews. Errol Miller lives in Monroe, Louisiana, though he is originally from Alabama. His poems have been published in dozens of literary journals and magazines. 79 Judy K. Miller teaches school at the Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon, Virginia. She has won awards from the AWA and is a published writer. Phyllis J. Moore lives and teaches school in Clarksburg, West Virginia. In a recent postcard she informed us that she walked the picket lines with the striking schoolteachers and says, "it was no picnic." Carolyn Page, Troy, Maine, is co-editor of a literary arts journal called Potato Eyes, which extends the Appalachians to their limit, from Alabama to Quebec. Philip Paradis teaches at Western Carolina University and has published two chapbooks of poetry: Tornado Alley and From Goohler's Knob. G. Keith Parker, a North Carolina native, lives in Switzerland. Owen T. Presley is an administrator at Berea College. Bill Quillen is a graphic designer and illustrator who works at Quillen Art Productions in Crossville, Tennessee.
